Have you ever wanted to star in your very own music video? (who hasn’t dreamed of it at least once). Well, now you can do it on one of the most important days of your life! As if that wasn’t awesome enough, all your friends and family can star alongside you.
This amazing newish addition to the wonderful world of wedding videography is called a Marryoke and is offered by some very funky, creative wedding filmmakers.
Pick your favourite song, get your guests to roughly learn the lyrics (it will look pretty crappy if they are miming along to lines they don’t know), set aside some time throughout your day and let your videographers magically transform your wedding day into something that looks like it came straight from MTV (or Kerrang if you are feeling adventurous).
The possibilities are endless. Pick the right videographers (ones who have a sense of humour and a creative minds to go along with their filming/ editing skills) and you really can get away with being as crazy as you want.
A quick Google search will open the doors to companies near you that offer this unique service. Just remember that, as with most things in life, not marryokes are the same. As videographers are catching on to just how super cool an idea this really is, many want to offer it to make some extra £££ and simply set up your guests in a corner somewhere and get them to sing along. This will probably be advertised as a marryoke and will probably be pretty cheap, but the end result will be nothing like what you would expect from the real deal.
To give you an idea of what one of these mysterious marryokes look like, here are a few examples by my company YPod Wedding Films:
Monica and Paul’s Frozen Marryoke
Monica and Paul got married in a Shieldhill Castle which looks like it fell straight out of a fairytale. They wanted to do something for their little daughter Emily (in the red dress) to look back on which was a different than the usual wedding video/ cheesy wedding photos.
Emily is a massive fan of Disney’s Frozen and just loved the song “Let is Go” so they decided to have a laugh with their family and friends and make a Frozen Marryoke.

Kirsty and Joe’s Marryoke Fun
When Kirsty and Joe got married they knew they wanted to do something fun that was different than everyone else was doing at their weddings. Their marryoke let all their friends and family go crazy and have an amazing time singing/ miming along to the upbeat song “I Gotta Feeling” by the Blackeyed Peas. This was the perfect song for them as it has easy to remember lyrics that almost everyone knew and got everyone in that party mood. Even the wedding band Strange Bru joined in!
Here is their finished marryoke:
